Today Show Visits Neptune Living Shoreline
This week, Shark River Cleanup Coalition (SRCC), Inc. Board member Arlene Sciarappa joined the American Littoral Society at the site of the Living Shoreline Restoration Project in Neptune, NJ, to meet with NBC Meteorologist Dylan Dreyer and producers from The Today Show.
In 2017, Arlene and the SRCC spearheaded a community effort to bring a nature-based flooding mitigation to Shark River Hills, rather than a bulkhead that would have negatively impacted the habitat, wildlife, and community access to the shoreline. Since then, the American Littoral Society, Albert Marine, Inc., Avakian Engineering, and Neptune Township have made the project a reality and an example of an innovative solution to a critical need in shoreline communities.
