Water Monitoring

The Shark River Cleanup Coalition supports Community-lead water monitoring to help protect and improve Shark River.

The SRCC has been instrumental in water testing in the Shark River since its inception. Results from the our water monitoring, in conjunction with the DEP, have resulted in the towns and county fixing several outfall pipes throughout the years. The most recent development in water monitoring is the inception of our Shark River Community Science  Program. The program is an autonomous working group of the SRCC that conducts regular water monitoring in the outfall pipes along the around the estuary. Program leaders and volunteers work in conjunction with the NJ DEP Bureau of marine Water Monitoring and The Watershed Institute for training, protocols, and implementation of testing as well as data interpretation.
